just got back to the states and my experience in the philippines was really great. I found the people there to be warm and helpful, and contrary to this other post everyone smiled and was nice when i was in a store or restaurant. Didn't do the tourist thing really in the bars, went and saw some old temples and played golf. Mimosa is awesome and one of the jeepney drivers showed me a place. He called it Delores, on our way back from Mabalacat, but hey they were real friendly and loaned me some clubs. Had one weird experience with a ladyboy, but hell i'm from oakland and theres a ton of them in san fransisco so i kinda saw it coming and didnt freak out.I know there's thieves and scammers there but there is here too and as far as bad neighborhoods and stuff goes, i'd rather be there than in my neighborhood.
It has been suggested that american men come to the philippines to find women because they can't connect w/american women who are desirable and intelligent. The truth is american women are fat, although sometimes intelligent, decididly unfeminine. I have a filipina gf, and would never think of controlling her. That would kinda ruin the whole idea of a man and woman relationship. I know there's a whole industry for perverts there, whose view is skewed in a different direction, but there is alot of very real people living there and their family and friends, w/good moral values and complete disregard for any idiot who appoints himself a judge of their life.
